BOARD ELIGIBILITY & REQUIREMENTS

1. Educational and Professional Background:
- A minimum educational requirement, such as a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Professional experience in relevant fields such as education, finance, law, non-profit management, or community development.
2. Community Involvement and Commitment:
- Demonstrated involvement in the local community or a strong understanding of the community’s educational needs.
- Commitment to improving education quality and access within the community.
3. Ethical Standards and Integrity:
- A clean background check, with no history of criminal activity or financial malfeasance.
- Adherence to high ethical standards and a commitment to the principles of equity, inclusivity, and transparency.
4. Conflict of Interest:
- No conflict of interest with any existing contracts, partnerships, or engagements of San Antonio Preparatory School.
- Absence of any immediate family members currently employed by or enrolled in the school to maintain objectivity and prevent any perceived nepotism.
5. TEA Compliance Knowledge:
- Familiarity with Texas Education Agency standards and regulations.
- Understanding of the legal and operational frameworks specific to charter schools in Texas.
6. Leadership and Governance Experience:
- Previous experience in board governance, strategic planning, and organizational leadership, especially in an educational setting.
- Skills in critical areas such as financial oversight, risk management, and policy development.
7. Diversity and Inclusivity:
- A commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment within the school community.
- Representation from various cultural, professional, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
8. Communication Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and engagement with stakeholders.
9. Availability and Commitment:
- Ability to dedicate sufficient time for board meetings, committee work, and school events.
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and board training sessions.
