ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

2 TEACHER MODEL

Every middle school class will have two teachers of record. Teacher one teaches ELA and History. Teacher two teaches Math and Science. Our teacher ratio is 1:15. This allows us to build really strong relationships with our students because that matters to us.

EXTENDED DAY/SCHOOL YEAR

Our school day is from 7:30AM to 4:30PM. We believe that every minutes matters and additional minutes improve student achievement.

First day: August 10, 2020 | Last Day: June 8, 2021

RIGOROUS CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE CURRICULUM

We have an inclusive set of intentionally aligned components- clear learning outcomes with matching assessments, engaging learning experiences and instructional strategies – organized into sequenced units of study that serve as both the detailed road map and the high quality delivery system for ensuring that all students achieve the desired end.

DEEPER LEARNING

We focus on critical thinking, communication, collaboration, academic mindsets, and learning how to learn, all through the implementation of rigorous content.

HIGH QUALITY INSTRUCTION

High quality teachers deserve high quality coaching and development. Teachers will receive weekly professional development and extended summer training in addition to year long personalize development.

HIGH EXPECTATIONS

We believe that all students can learn and achieve at high levels with the right amount of support. In our challenging and supportive learning environment we will make any effort to set the same high educational standards for all students in a class, school, or education system.

TRAUMA INFORMED

Trauma-informed care means treating the whole child, taking into account past trauma and the resulting coping mechanisms when attempting to understand behaviors and teach a child.

RESTORATIVE PRACTICES

Restorative practices promotes inclusiveness, relationship-building and problem-solving, through such restorative methods as circles for teaching and conflict resolution to conferences that bring victims, offenders and their supporters together to address wrongdoing.

SPORTS | CLUBS

We offer a robust selection of sports. We believe that sports play a large part with our curricular programs. Basketball, Flag Football, Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, Golf, Tennis, Cross Country, Swimming, Track, Wrestling. Club Examples: gardening, financial literacy, chess, dance, cheer, photography, design/clothing, business and entrepreneurship.

FINE ARTS

We offer Visual and Performing Arts:

Visual Arts – drawing, painting, printmaking, design, crafts, photography, video, film making and architecture.

Performing Arts – theater, music, and dance. (Music Industry – professionals use a STEAM-oriented curriculum, to provide students with tools to write, produce, record, and publish their own music, so they can build a sustainable career.)
